  • In Hyla style, this isn’t just a regular disc course – it’s a “discourse” with Human Relations-inspired questions at each tee to encourage reflection, conversation, and connection.
  • You can also order a tournament t-shirt – click here to place orders with an Etsy vendor from 4/20 – 5/7. All payments and orders will be processed by an online vendor, not by Hyla. T-shirts will not be ready for the tournament, but will be delivered approximately a week after the webstore closes.

Back Story & Gratitude

The first Hyla Disc Golf course was created in 2005 and consisted of 9 wooden poles around the perimeter of the fields. Since 2019, Cooper Rooks (Human Relations & PE Teacher) has been working with students, alumni, families and community members to create a course that challenges us not only in disc golf, but also in the ways that we think, communicate and interact with others and ourselves. The new course is a labor of love and we are grateful to Cooper and all the families who have been part of its growth over the years.

Hyla Disc Golf now has two 18 hole layouts. The Discourse 18 was finished last year with baskets, teepads and teesigns that have thought provoking questions and conversation starters so that you can get to know the people you are playing with better, or as a way to self reflect. The second course, Back 18, magically appeared and mostly reuses tees and baskets from the Discourse to make 18 more unique holes that are even longer and more challenging. The Back 18 does not have tee signs.

With many holes from both courses criss crossing each other, making a usable map has been a challenge. Instead, we have written instructions for both courses that give you the information you need to play each hole, with Out of Bounds and Mando instructions. It also gives you the information you need to get to the next hole. Hopping from hole to hole like Hyla Frogs makes the most of our amazing 15 acre campus.
