Student Ideas for Spring Break fun!

Outdoor Activities: 

  • Olympics! Design some physical challenges! Maybe a parkour course, or create a fitness course to see who is the best “athlete” in the household. Include biking, ping pong, shoveling dirt, felling a tree (a small one that isn’t going to hurt anyone), pruning, planting…wait, maybe this is Kimber trying to get a garden started!
  • Ultimate dodgeball in costumes!
  • Go on a long bike ride
  • Learn to skateboard
  • Go for a walk!  Gazzam Lake, the Grand Forest, or one of the Island’s beaches are great places to start.

Indoor Rainy Days: 

  • Ultimate Champion of board games. Round up all your board games and challenge each other to see who is the best at them! Crown a winner!
  • Cook off with your family. Hold on to your recipes and make a family cookbook!
  • Make a movie
  • Put on a play
  • Poetry writing – take a walk, go to a cemetery, read headstones for inspiration
  • Baking
  • Listen to music
  • Visit a museum! Yes, you can do it online. There are over 2500 museums to check out including The Isabella Stewart Gardener Museum in Boston, Uffizi Gallery in Florence, The Van Gogh Museum in Amsterdam, Anne Frank House in Amsterdam, Natural History Museum in London, The Musee D’Orsay in Paris, or the Georgia O’Keefe Museum in Santa Fe.
  • Check out Podcasts. In this one, Phoebe (not our Phoebe) reads a chapter of Agatha Christie each day!
  • Read cool books and articles like the following:
  • Write a letter to someone you care about, and send it the old-fashioned way

Online activities:

  • Family movie night! Marathons. There are so many series and movies to watch. Rewatch The Lord of the Rings, Harry Potter, or the Series of Unfortunate Events. Or pick something from the list below:
    • Getting ready for your cooking competition by watching Salt, Fat, Acid and Heat (Netflix), Jiro Dreams of Sushi (Netflix), or Ugly Delicious (Netflix)
    • Need inspiration? Watch The Kindness Diaries (Netflix)
    • Broadway shows are online!
    • Binge watch Pride and Prejudice
  • Form a Zoom writing or drawing group. Select a prompt and do it each day!
  • Photography
  • Make a website
  • Play video games – join your friends!
  • Card games
  • Check out InspiroBot, which is exactly what it sounds like.
  • Play music online together. Check out the following link for inspiration
  • Check out live cams at the zoos and aquariums!

For the whole family: 

  • Build forts in the background
  • Play catch, baseball, or soccer
  • Meditate
  • Yoga
  • Garden (time for kale, chard, onions, herbs like rosemary, thyme, mullein, yarrow, and many others)
  • Bathe your dogs! Cats! Rabbits! Hamsters…
  • Spring clean and purge your home
